COVID Heroes Project

." We focused on heroes because I wanted my students to understand that with every crisis there are people and organizations that step up and go beyond their duties to help the masses. The students strengthened their critical thinking about heroes and actions and the impact of people on a crisis. They also strengthened their research skills and putting together a project in a systematic way. The highlight was when students shared with me that they learned something new or realized something they had never thought about with Covid-19. The best part was when they shared that by doing the project they were less afraid of the epidemic, although careful. When I was in school, .I was an athlete but I also enjoyed the arts which became my teaching career area, theatre. I went to high school in Illinois, college at George Washington University and The University of Northern Colorado. At Turquoise Trail Charter School, I teach ELA, theatre and this year I will be teaching in the Gifted and Talented program."
